EXCITING CHANGES TO THE 2020 MEETING FORMAT

Local Arrangement Chair, John Porterfield, MD and his University of Alabama at Birmingham colleagues are thrilled to welcome you to the AAES's 41st Annual Meeting to be held in Birmingham, Alabama at the Westin Birmingham Hotel and Convention Center, April 4-6, 2020. You can look forward to a few big changes at the 2020 Meeting:

Shifting Dates & Timing

The 2020 Meeting will begin on Saturday, April 4 and end on Monday, April 6. The entire Meeting is shifting one day earlier than the traditional Sunday through Tuesday timeline. ESU, the Advanced Course, and the sporting events will all shift one day earlier as well. See the graphic below outlining key events taking place each day.

In addition, the Meeting will be extended until 3:00 pm on the last day, Monday, April 6. We have traditionally ended around Noon but with so much amazing content, the 2020 Meeting will be extended until 3:00 pm. Additional hotel rooms have been added for those who need to stay an additional night on Monday, April 6.

Please take these two factors into consideration when booking travel.

The Annual Meeting will feature our traditional scientific sessions for oral and poster presentations as well as the Medical College of Wisconsin Stuart D. Wilson, M.D. Historical Lecture and the Carol & Orlo H. Clark Distinguished Lecture in Endocrine Surgery. This year, we will also be hosting symposia on wellness, diversity and inclusion, ethics, business in surgery, interesting case presentations, and a new quick shot poster session to allow more presenters to the podium.

Additionally, the AAES will again host the Advanced Endocrine Surgery Course as an opportunity to review current standards in management of complex endocrine diseases, while engaging on a personal level with nationally recognized authorities in the field. The Course is structured as case presentations to a multi-disciplinary panel of experts in the areas of thyroid, parathyroid, and adrenal disease, as well as a special session dedicated to re-operative endocrine surgery. This Course will be offered to attendees on the Friday preceding the Annual Meeting (April 3). Our Fellows will also receive the latest updates in Endocrine Surgery by an outstanding Faculty at the 11th Annual Endocrine Surgery University!

We look forward to seeing you in Birmingham!
